Listserve

List servers are used as a good method to e-mail large groups of e-mail addresses. This technology is a combination of the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) used by e-mail servers and an e-mail database. They are a communication vehicle that provides a method to "push out" information to the intended audience. Definition of that audience can be developed through a pre-defined list or an automated sign-up capacity for a particular list-serve on a website. Operators of list servers can then send out requested information on a periodic basis. For example, users could sign-up to a list serve to receive new newsletters that are released.

List servers are a cost effective method of delivering information quickly and efficiently. For example, they are a perfect complement or replacement to a standard newsletter.
